About this website
Smokefree Schools/Kura Auahi Kore is a project run by the Health Sponsorship Council (HSC). The HSC is a New Zealand government agency that promotes health and healthy lifestyles. We do this by developing and delivering health promotion and marketing programmes.
This website has been built in consultation with the National Smokefree/Auahi Kore Schools Working Group.
Current members include representatives from:
- The Health Sponsorship Council
- The Ministry of Health
- Canterbury District Health Board
- Health Promoting Schools.
- National Pacific Tobacco Control (National Heart Foundation)
- Te Akatea, NZ Maori Principal's Association
- Te Koru Puawai o Aotearoa (New Zealand Maori School Trustees Association)
In addition the group has a curriculum specialist as a member. A wider advisory includes ASH, the Cancer Society, Te Hotu Manawa Maori and the Smokefree Coalition.
